Uzbek-Czech business forum takes place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Uzbek-Czech business forum was held in Tashkent. It was organized by the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the participation of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the State Investment Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Trade.

The event was organized within the framework of the visit of the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Vojtekh Filip.

The delegation included representatives of 18 large and leading enterprises of the Czech Republic engaged in construction, energy, pharmaceuticals, engineering, advisory services and industry. The Uzbek side was represented by 80 representatives of business circles of the Republic.

The business forum was organized in order to establish bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as to attract foreign investment and advanced technologies in the specialized sectors of Uzbekistan.

The presentation on investment opportunities in Uzbekistan for potential investors was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the State Investment Committee Shamil Burnashev. The event participants were thoroughly informed about measures to create a favorable investment climate, improve customs and tariff regulation and liberalize monetary policy, including the repatriation of profits for foreign investors.

In the course of his speech, he stressed that today great attention is paid to the development of the regions of Uzbekistan, strengthening long-term cooperation with foreign countries at the level of regions. Almost every region has its own free economic zone and small industrial zones are formed.

Meanwhile, Czech entrepreneurs are not as widely represented in the Uzbek market. Today, 24 enterprises operate, of which 10 are Czech companies with 100 capital.

Representatives of the Czech business circles expressed interest in the development of bilateral relations in the republic, in areas such as education and nanotechnology, energy and industry, engineering and agriculture.

It was noted that for students from Uzbekistan, grants may be provided to study at leading technical universities in the Czech Republic in order to support the young generation.

Upon completion of the business forum, a cooperation exchange was organized, where members of the Czech delegation and representatives of the business circles of Uzbekistan were able to discuss concrete steps towards the implementation of joint projects.

According to the results of the first 9 months of 2018, the total turnover between two states made up US$47.5 million, of which US$3.72 million is export of Uzbekistan and US$43.78 million - import.
