Uzbek Customs Improve Their Skills in Risk Management System, Criminal and Cyber Intelligence

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Taking into the account that proper risk management in Customs areas is one of the most important preconditions for the trade facilitation, EU is continuing to offer significant support to border security and trade facilitation activities in Central Asia.

Thus, a technical assistance mission on customs risks management, cyber and criminal intelligence starts in Tashkent on November 6, 2018 within the framework of Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA), funded by the European Union. International and local experts will gather together to address the areas of integration of risk management, Customs clearance and control, as well as progressing from overall control, to risk-based control.

During the workshop, both international and local experts will work on the use of data and data sources for risk management and intelligence. In particular, experts will look in detail into the interaction between Customs control and intelligence information and the application of risk management as additional instrument to the collection of intelligent and analytical information, related to infringements for customs laws.

The first BOMCA operations in Central Asia began in 2003 and, since then, BOMCA has strengthened the partnership between Central Asian Governments in the field of border management. The European Union allocated a sum of EUR 40, 1 million to BOMCA for the period of 2003 – 2019, out of which EUR 6, 6 million were assigned to its 9th implementation phase (2015 - 2019).
