Uzbek customs body seizes 36 kg of gold in past period of 2013
In the result, some 36 kg of gold products for 3.1 billion soums were seized, the press service of the State Customs Committee said.
Citizen of Uzbekistan Nina Muminova was arrested at customs point Navoi in Tashkent region. She attempted to smuggle about 500 grams of gold without declaring them. She hid 59 units of gold products in her body. The cost of the products is over 44 million soums.
Employees of the same post prevented another attempt of smuggling of gold. Citizen of neighboring state Muqqadas Saidrasulova and citizen Gulmira Kojaseitova were arrested, when they attempted to smuggle 1.5 kg of gold bars with total cost of over 126 million soums.
Uzbek citizen Aygul Sanayeva tried to smuggle 5,900 flash cards for smartphones, which were hid in her body. Total sum of the products is 66 million soums.
Currently, investigations are underway on all cases.
