Uzbek Court Rules in Favor of Hugo Boss, Puma, and Tommy Hilfiger
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An economic court in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan has heard a case regarding the protection of trademarks for international brands Hugo Boss, Puma, and Tommy Hilfiger.
The lawsuit was filed by representatives of Hugo Boss AG (Germany), Puma SE (Germany), and Tommy Hilfiger Licensing B.V. (Netherlands). The court session took place on 1 April 2026.
During the proceedings, it was established that the defendant used the trademarks without an appropriate license, distributed counterfeit products, and engaged in their advertisement. The court ruled these actions illegal and ordered the defendant to cease using the trademarks, seize and destroy the counterfeit goods, and remove illegal branding from all products and packaging.
Additionally, compensation in the amount of 61.8 million soums was awarded to the rightsholders. When accounting for state duties, postal fees, and legal expenses, the total amount to be recovered exceeded 111 million soums.
