Uzbek Citizen Who Suffered a Stroke in Croatia Returned Home with Support from Diplomats
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Thanks to the assistance of Uzbek diplomats, a seriously ill citizen of Uzbekistan who had been undergoing treatment in Croatia was returned to his homeland today, according to the Dunyo news agency.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Budapest, V.Zh. arrived in Croatia in 2022 for temporary employment. However, on 18 April 2025, his condition suddenly deteriorated—he suffered a stroke and was urgently hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a clinical hospital in the city of Rijeka. He subsequently underwent the necessary surgical procedures.
As a result of coordinated efforts with foreign partners and with the support of the competent authorities of Uzbekistan, the patient was transferred to Germany, where he was monitored by specialists.
He was later transported on a Munich–Tashkent flight, accompanied by a resuscitation specialist, and brought back to Uzbekistan in full compliance with medical protocols.
It should be noted that the protection of the rights and interests of Uzbek citizens abroad remains one of the key priorities of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy.
Work in this area will continue consistently.
