Uzbek Business Ombudsman Intervenes in Tashkent Region Building Seizure Case
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Office of the Business Ombudsman of Uzbekistan has intervened in a case concerning the seizure of a non-residential building in Tashkent Region, the agency’s press service reports.
A representative of the company T.S. appealed to the Ombudsman for the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights, Abdumannop Buriev, during an on-site reception, citing delays by local authorities in paying compensation following the seizure of the building for public use.
An investigation revealed that T.S. had a notarized agreement with the Hokimiyat of Tashkent District regarding the transfer of the building. An independent appraisal organization was engaged to determine its value, and expert reports were obtained.
The Business Ombudsman’s office issued a directive to the Hokimiyat, reminding them of the strict requirements of the Law “On Procedures for the Expropriation of Land Plots for Public Needs with Compensation” (ZRU-781).
The matter of approving the compensation amount was submitted to a session of the Tashkent Regional Kengash of People’s Deputies. Following the session, the necessary funds were transferred to the entrepreneur’s account, resolving the dispute and ensuring the protection of his legal rights.
