Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Frontier troops of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan are now better equipped to respond to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus infection COVID-19. This was reported by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This was facilitated by the Central Asian Border Management (BOMCA) program, with EU financial support, which provided personal protective equipment, including 830 protective suits, 1,000 antiseptic sprays and 15,000 medical masks. Protective kits will reduce the health risk to which border guards performing control functions at the state border are exposed.

“In Uzbekistan, as in most countries of the region, quick and decisive measures at the national level hinder the spread of the virus and prevent serious threats to public health. Nevertheless, as countries begin to rediscover their borders, personal protective equipment will play a decisive role in ensuring the full protection of those at the forefront of the response and preventing the spread of coronavirus,” said Eduards Stipreis, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Protective equipment was transferred as part of the BOMCA program response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The BOMCA program, through partnerships with Central Asian governments, seeks to support and equip border agencies to expand their capabilities in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
