Uzbek-Azerbaijani talks hold in Baku

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 30 June to 5 July 2019, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov visited Azerbaijan to attend the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Baku, meetings and talks with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov, Minister of Education Jeykhun Bayramov, Minister of Culture Abulfaz Garayev, Chairman of the State Agency for Tourism Development Fuad Nagiyev, Rector of the University of Tourism and Management Ilham Madatov, Rector of the University of Oil and Industry Mustafa Babanly were held.

During the meetings, the Azerbaijani side was presented detailed information on the achievements of Uzbekistan in the implementation of initiatives by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to implement large-scale reforms in the economic, socio-political, social, spiritual, cultural, educational and other fields.

Touching on the topic of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations, the parties highly appreciated the dynamics of their development. It was generally agreed that the basis of all these positive trends in intergovernmental relations lies primarily in the common history, language, culture and traditions.

The close ties between the two countries that have been formed over the years of independence, a solid legal and contractual base, and increasing contacts at the highest and high levels make it possible to strengthen and dynamically develop cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis.

At the same time, it was noted that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have great potential for deepening cooperation in the socio-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres. In this regard, the parties agreed on joint implementation of measures aimed at further promotion of exchanges in the fields of culture, science, education, sports and tourism.

Following the talks, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of education and science was signed between the International University of Tourism "Silk Road" in Samarkand and the Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management.

The document envisages the implementation of programs for the exchange of experience and knowledge, experts in the field of tourism, as well as the organization of seminars, conferences and other joint projects.
