Uzbek Authorities Detain Sellers of Substandard Medicines in Jizzakh Worth 152 Million Soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement agencies in Jizzakh prevented the illegal sale of medicines whose quality was not properly documented.
During a joint operation conducted by the Department under the General Prosecutor’s Office, the State Security Service, and the local internal affairs office, the director of LLC “M.F.”, Zh.S., and citizen M.Kh. were detained.
Authorities seized 644 units and 298 packages of seven types of pharmaceutical products, with a total value of 152.3 million soums.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 186-3 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, which addresses liability for the production, acquisition, storage, transportation, or sale of substandard or counterfeit medicines and medical devices, as well as their sale outside authorized pharmacies and pharmacy branches.
Investigations are ongoing.
