Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the Korean-Uzbek business center in Incheon, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in South Korea organized video-conferencing negotiations between senior officials of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Energy, and the State Committee for Ecology and Environment, JSC NES of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the company Sejin G&E Co., Ltd. Lee Kyung Young, Dunyo news agency reported.
The parties discussed the issues of accelerating the implementation of the project on the production of electricity based on gases produced in the Akhangaran and Maydontol municipal waste landfills in the Tashkent region.
Lee Kyung Yong informed that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a visit to Uzbekistan for direct negotiations on the signing of a long-term Agreement on the purchase of generated electricity was postponed to a later date. But since April, construction work has been resumed at the facility. In addition, due to the lack of flights, the possibility of direct negotiations on the purchase of necessary equipment from other countries is limited.
South Korean partners expressed their readiness to speed up the process of preparing and translating project documentation into English for further transfer to the Uzbek side. Lee Kyung Yong noted that the company’s employees in Tashkent carry out targeted work in close coordination with the State Committee for Ecology. Also, negotiations will begin with the Ministry of Energy and JSC “NES of Uzbekistan” on the draft Agreement on the acquisition of generated electricity.
As part of the online event, the parties agreed on further plans for promoting the joint project, and an agreement was reached on organizing regular negotiations through video conferencing in the second half of June 2020.
