Uzbek and Japanese medical experts exchange experience in combating COVID-19

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A video conference was held in the capital of Japan, at which Uzbek and Japanese medical specialists exchanged experience and knowledge on combating coronavirus, Dunyo news agency reports.

The Japanese side was represented by the Director of the Center for the Prevention and Control of Infections, Professor of Juntendo Medical University Satoshi Hori.

Founded in 1838, Juntendo University is one of Japan’s leading medical universities. It has 4 educational campuses, 6 hospitals across the country, a number of modern research centers and institutes in the field of biomedicine, genetics, infections, tumors, sports and gerantology. Juntendo also maintains international relations with 60 universities in 30 countries, including Uzbekistan.

From the Uzbek side, professors and leading specialists - infectious disease specialists, pulmonologists, therapists, epidemiologists, resuscitators, as well as employees of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan took part in the video conference.

During the dialogue, experts exchanged views and information on measures to counteract the spread of coronavirus, methods for testing and treating patients in medical institutions and at home.

Special attention was paid to the duration of the asymptomatic course of the disease, the development of immunity after recovery, the criteria for determining the severity of the disease and the effectiveness of treatment, as well as the use of various patterns of use of medications.

Professor Hori praised the decisive and large-scale measures taken by the leadership of Uzbekistan to counteract the spread of coronavirus infection and ensure the safety of the entire population.

The Japanese expert emphasized that the appeals of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the people of the country were of particular importance in consolidating the efforts of relevant government organizations and supporting the population. According to him, the experience of combating coronavirus in Uzbekistan can be a serious example for foreign countries in this direction, especially in terms of the operational organization of medical and practical measures, the creation of new hospitals and online education for schoolchildren and students.

In conclusion, the parties agreed to continue to maintain business contacts.
