Uzbek Ambassador Presents Credentials to New Zealand Governor-General
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Kayumov, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Singapore and concurrently accredited to New Zealand, presented his credentials to New Zealand Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro in a formal ceremony at Government House in Wellington, according to Dunyo news agency.
The ambassador was received with traditional Maori honors, and the ceremony included a military salute. During the event and subsequent discussions, the sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of Uzbek-New Zealand relations, including cooperation in political, trade-economic, scientific, educational, and other areas.
Governor-General Dame Cindy Kiro highlighted the extensive reforms led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting achievements in modernizing state governance, developing civil society, and creating a favorable investment climate for international business.
The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening friendship between the countries, intensifying political dialogue, and expanding practical cooperation in trade, culture, education, and other mutually beneficial sectors.
The New Zealand side also expressed readiness to continue parliamentary and other forms of bilateral collaboration. The ceremony concluded with Governor-General Kiro expressing interest in further developing ties and extending her sincere regards to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan.
