Uzbek Agriculture Minister Meets Heads of Italian Firms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the International Forum “Italy – Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan,” Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, held a series of bilateral meetings with leaders of major Italian companies.

In a meeting with Patrick Ungaro, CEO of Bonifiche Ferraresi, discussions focused on potential joint projects in horticulture and vegetable cultivation, including tomato production, as well as livestock development and strengthening the fodder base.

The Minister emphasized the Ministry’s readiness to provide organizational and practical support, noting promising farms in Jizzakh and Bukhara regions for collaboration in the livestock sector.

During talks with representatives of Unitec, the focus was on supplying modern machinery and technologies for the agricultural sector. Currently, more than 150 highly qualified engineers from the company are involved in analytical projects aimed at developing agricultural and food exports.

Both sides expressed mutual interest in expanding investment cooperation.

Within the framework of the forum, a draft memorandum of cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Unitec has been developed and is expected to be signed in the near future.
