Uzbek-Afghan business forum takes place in Termez
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Uzbek-Afghan Business Forum and the opening ceremony of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan Border Trade Zone was held in Termez.
The goal is to establish sustainable and long-term cooperation with Afghan partners, bearing in mind a further increase in the volume of exports of domestic products to the Afghan market.
The Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, B. Abidov, and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan, M. Yurish, who spoke at the ceremony, noted positive trends in the development of mutually beneficial inter-country cooperation and especially the intensification of trade relations between the two countries.
Foreign guests had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the industrial potential of Uzbekistan at the exhibition, export-oriented goods, where a wide range of textile, leather and footwear, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, metallurgical and electrical products, building materials and other goods in 18 sectors was demonstrated.
In addition, as part of the business forum, bilateral talks were held with the delegation of Afghanistan to discuss the prospects for accelerated growth of mutual trade through the full use of the opportunities created by the trade zone.
Following the events, in which more than 60 representatives of Afghan companies took part, a number of export agreements and contracts for the supply of petrochemical, textile, food products and building materials from Uzbekistan were signed.
