Uzatom Hosts Seminar on Nuclear Energy Development with IAEA Expert
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzatom Agency held a seminar featuring an American specialist on the topic “Nuclear Energy: Building Infrastructure in Collaboration with Stakeholders.”
The event was led by Kelly Barfield, U.S. Advisor on Stakeholder Engagement in Nuclear Energy and an expert with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Employees of the Uzatom Agency and the Nuclear Power Plant Construction Directorate participated in the seminar. Attendees discussed approaches for effective engagement with key representatives of national nuclear energy programs, including the private sector and research organizations.
“Energy empowers everything. Kilowatts turn dreams into reality. It is impossible to develop a country’s economy without reliable and affordable electricity — it has always been the foundation of progress,” emphasized Kelly Barfield.
Special attention was given to studying U.S. experience, as well as practical examples and tools for engaging various stakeholders in the development of the nuclear industry.
“We source resources from around the world, which is why your collaboration, for example with the IAEA or with developing producer countries such as the United States, is so important,” the expert noted.
Participants also discussed modern technologies for ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants, as well as the socio-economic prospects for nuclear energy development, particularly in the context of growing electricity demand.
