Uzatom Discusses Prospects for Nuclear Energy Development in Uzbekistan with France
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Azim Akhmedkhadzhayev, Director of the Uzatom Agency, held a meeting with Alexandre Gorbachev, Regional Nuclear Advisor at the French Ministry of Economy, Finance, Industry, and Digital Sovereignty, and Walid Fouque, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current cooperation with French companies, the progress of the Agency’s projects, and the prospects for developing nuclear energy in Uzbekistan.
France serves as an important partner for Uzbekistan in Europe, both in foreign policy and economic cooperation. In particular, collaboration in the field of nuclear energy is actively developing.
In June 2025, Uzatom and the French company Assystem signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a joint venture.
The joint venture’s activities will include technical support for the construction of a nuclear power plant, as well as backing projects related to the development of Uzbekistan’s civilian nuclear program.
