“Uzatom” Discusses Hungary’s Participation in Uzbekistan’s Nuclear Power Plant with MVM EGI Zrt

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The director of the “Uzatom” Agency held talks with Péter Kárpáti, CEO of the Hungarian company MVM EGI Zrt., regarding Hungary’s participation in the construction project of an integrated nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed opportunities for securing export financing from Hungary’s EximBank, the current status of project financing arrangements, and prospects for signing a quadripartite framework agreement on the implementation of dry-cooling systems.

During the meeting, the high level of partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary in the peaceful use of nuclear energy was emphasized, as well as the readiness to exchange advanced technologies and jointly utilize international financial instruments to implement major national infrastructure projects.

Particular attention was given to coordinating the actions of all participants to ensure the effective advancement of the project, strengthen long-term international cooperation, and introduce innovative high-tech solutions in the country’s nuclear sector.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to hold the next round of talks in Hungary in January 2026, involving representatives of Hungary’s EximBank, OTP Bank, and other key financial and governmental bodies, as part of the official visit of the “Uzatom” Agency delegation.
