USAID and Soglom Avlod Uchun Deliver Food to Vulnerable Groups
Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministries of Social Protection, Health, Public Education and Foreign Affairs, and the US Embassy, Resource and Policy Exchange, Inc. (RPX) and other partners took part in the announcement of this program.
Through November 2014, the program will enhance nutrition among children with disabilities, tuberculosis patients, and patients of other medical facilities in Uzbekistan. The current shipment, valued at $311,834, will be provided to residents of 107 local institutions, including the Muruvvat and Sahovat homes, and specialized treatment facilities across Uzbekistan. The food aid includes mixes of dehydrated vegetable blends enriched with vitamins and minerals that will be used to prepare soup for the residents of these institutions. The ICNF Sog’lom Avlod Uchun will deliver the food supplies to the recipient institutions and monitor their distribution.
Since 1993, USAID has provided more than $330 million in assistance to Uzbekistan.
