US$9.6 Million Allocated to Young Uzbeks to Cover Language Exam Costs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 9 February, Uzbek authorities have allocated US$9.6 million to reimburse young citizens for language exam expenses, the head of the Youth Affairs Agency, Alisher Sadullaev, reported.
A total of 58,200 individuals have received the payments.
The largest group of beneficiaries, 24,600 people, were aged 18 to 23. Among teenagers aged 14–17, 23,100 received compensation, while 10,300 people in the 24–31 age group benefited.
Most of the funds were used to cover English language exams. IELTS led in terms of participants, with over 43,000 people reimbursed for more than US$8 million. This was followed by TOEFL, with payments totaling US$43,300, and the Goethe-Zertifikat, with US$21,000 in reimbursements.
