Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo arrived on an official visit to Uzbekistan.

At the Tashkent Islam Karimov International Airport, the guest was met by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.

The main events of the visit are scheduled for 3 February.

As previously reported, the delegation of the US State Department is expected to be received by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The US official will hold negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties will discuss the implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the Uzbek-American summit in May 2018 in Washington, and exchange views on pressing issues of international importance.

The US Secretary of State will also take part in the ministerial meeting in the format “Central Asia and the USA” (“C5 + 1)” in Tashkent.
