Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An article “On effective and social support of the population of Uzbekistan in the period of counteracting coronavirus” has been published in one of the popular American publications Eurasianet, Dunyo reports.
In the article, the author of the material notes that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent funds directly to the economy in order to help the country out of the current crisis caused by the coronavirus, and also supported the initiative of the business community to provide assistance to the needy and temporarily unemployed.
The article cites the words of the head of Uzbekistan that “the country has enough reserves to support the population and the economy. It would not be easier than just giving money to the population. But no economist can predict the consequences of this. Moreover, there is a high probability that this will increase corruption”.
As the author of the article emphasizes, Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested that unemployment and difficulties caused by the current situation can be resolved by a nationwide movement, which the head of state called “Kindness and Support”.
As noted in the article, the President of Uzbekistan in the framework of this situation invited businessmen to provide financial support to needy families, to employ their members. The state will provide tax incentives, rental discounts and loans for those companies participating in this charity event.
An article on the efforts of Uzbekistan’s leadership to prevent coronavirus in the country has been published in the American daily The New York Times. The article notes that Uzbekistan is preparing to open the first part of the infectious diseases hospital for 10 thousand beds outside the city of Tashkent, trying to curb the spread of coronavirus. The facility is intended both for the treatment of virus-infected residents and for accommodating Uzbek citizens returning home from abroad who require quarantine.
