Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A resolution of the President “On measures to organize the activities of the University of Geological Sciences in the system of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources” was adopted.

According to the resolution, the University of Geological Sciences (University) was established, which is specialized in the integration of education, research and practice in the geological industry. The founder of the university is the State Committee for Geology,

The University is a specialized higher educational and research institution of the republic for the preparation of qualified personnel in the direction of geology for the State Geology Committee, enterprises of the mining industry and other sectors of the economy and for conducting research work.

Students are admitted to the University by state order and on a fee-contract basis on the basis of the parameters for admission to study at higher educational institutions of the republic, approved annually and formed at the request of the State Geology Committee.

Students are trained at the University on the basis of the state educational standards of Uzbekistan for joint educational programs with leading foreign universities in geology and mining, in particular, St. Petersburg Mining University (Russian Federation), in accordance with agreements concluded with them.

The Resolution established the Center for Geo-Innovative Technologies of the University, and also approved the composition of the Board of Trustees of the University.
