United Kingdom Adds Four Uzbek Companies and a Citizen to Sanctions List
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on four companies and one citizen of Uzbekistan as part of its anti-Russia measures, according to a document published on the website of the UK Ministry of Finance.
The restrictions target Raw Materials Cellulose, Gelion Business Trade, the Fergana Chemical Plant, and Chemistry International, all of which are engaged in the production of cotton cellulose.
According to the British authorities, these companies are linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex.
Among individuals, the sanctions apply to Uzbek citizen Rustam Muminov, who is associated with the Fergana Chemical Plant. He had previously been included in the European Union’s sanctions list for supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex.
EU documents indicate that Muminov’s enterprise supplied cotton to gunpowder factories in Perm and Kazan that are used to produce weapons for the Russian armed forces.
