UNICEF and Uzbekistan Discuss Expanding Humanitarian Cooperation on Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 October 2025, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held a meeting with Head of UNICEF’s Afghanistan Office Tajuddin Oyvali and Head of the UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan Reghina Castiggio.

The discussions focused on key areas of cooperation and the role of Uzbekistan in providing humanitarian and social assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

Tajuddin Oyvali commended the potential of the transport and logistics infrastructure established in the city of Termez and expressed interest in expanding collaboration with Uzbekistan, particularly with the Termez Cargo Center, to facilitate the formation and dispatch of humanitarian shipments to Afghanistan.

UNICEF representatives expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for its consistent support of the organization’s activities and its unwavering commitment to assisting the people of the neighboring country.

It was noted that the Uzbek–Afghan border currently serves as a reliable and secure humanitarian corridor, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of aid by international humanitarian organizations, including UN agencies.
