Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 April 2026, Nigin Abaszade, the UNFPA Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, met with Umid Abidhadjaev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, to discuss the role of demographic trends and labor market development as drivers of sustainable economic growth.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding priority areas of engagement. Key discussions addressed forecasting social and infrastructure service needs based on demographic data, conducting joint analyses on demographic dividends, and their impact on human capital development and regional income stability.

Capacity-building programs involving international experts were considered, alongside technical assistance projects and grant initiatives. Participants also discussed reducing regional disparities, improving labor market efficiency, and enhancing social policy effectiveness.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation, expand expert exchanges, and implement joint projects in demographics and labor market development.
