UNESCO promotes analytical journalism in Uzbekistan

The workshop was held for creative student team so they could master modern methods of seeking and processing information, along with the skills needed for investigative journalism and developing analytical programmes. During the training the role of investigative journalism in promoting transparency and good governance was also discussed.

The UNESCO curriculum explores the methodology and case studies of analytical journalism based on the existing resources, such as UNESCO’s Story-based Inquiry: a Manual for Investigative Journalists and the Global Investigative Journalism Casebook. The text was adapted to the country context in Uzbekistan by experts from the National University of Uzbekistan named after Ulugbek and the Faculty of International Journalism of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages.

Another pilot training to be organized on 12 and 13 December will target in-service journalists to review the draft curriculum, get their feedback and make further adaptations.
