UNESCO helps children with special needs overcome stress and anxiety during a pandemic

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the UNESCO #ResiliArts global campaign, the UNESCO Office in Almaty conducted online courses from April 23 to May 11 aimed at supporting the healthy development of children from vulnerable groups.

The course was attended by 30 artists and 109 children from 5 to 17 years old from four countries of Central Asia - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. These were mainly children with special needs. A total of 58 seminars were held for them to promote the expression of children in the visual arts, choreography and literature.

Participation in this art and educational project helped children learn to find understanding in difficult times. Seminar organizers are confident that children's creativity enhances the self-esteem of both children and their parents.

“My daughter really liked the tales. She is thrilled. With drawing, she is not very. And if in general, then a lot of human thanks. Your project is a huge help to our parents and crazy delight for the children, ”said Sofia’s mother from Kazakhstan.

The children and families who participated in this course were able to make friends, exchange their work and inspire each other.
