UNESCO handed over the equipment to the cartoon studio

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A ceremony of the handover of a modern computer equipment, software and photo camera to the State Unitary Enterprise "Studio of animated films" (a part of the "Uzbekkino" National Agency) was held on February 19, 2020 in the UNESCO Tashkent Office.

The equipment was handed over within the framework of the UNESCO project “Strengthening cultural and creative industries in Lao PDR, Uzbekistan and Rwanda” and will be used to create high quality animated content.

Mr Jan Hladík, the UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan, Ms Sevara Tulyaganova, Acting Director of the State Unitary Enterprise "Studio of animated films", Mr Nizami Makhmudov, Deputy Director General of  National Agency "Uzbekkino", as well as animation directors Mr Nazim Tulyakhodjaev, Mr Dmitry Vlasov and Mr Aziz Mukhamedov, attended the handover ceremony.

"On behalf of "Uzbekkino", I would like to thank UNESCO for its support and attention. Today we are witnessing a period of overall revival of national cinematography, and UNESCO contributes to this important process in Uzbekistan," Mr Nizamiya Mahmudov said.

It was also noted the new photo equipment will also serve for development of puppet animation. "Today, puppet animation production has changed, and instead of film cameras, it is possible to use digital cameras. We are also planning to create a technical base to revive puppet animation in Uzbekistan," Mr Aziz Mukhamedov said.

UNESCO supports the development of the animation industry in Uzbekistan by improving the knowledge and skills of animation studios staff and providing them with technical assistance. Thus, earlier, the UNESCO Tashkent Office organized practical workshop on animation storyboarding, which was conducted by a well-known animation director from Belarus, Mr Mikhail Tumelya.
