Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan uncovered an underground drug laboratory in Tashkent Region and seized synthetic drugs worth over US$800,000, according to the press service of the Tashkent City Police Department.

"Officers from the Tashkent City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies prevented the distribution of a large batch of drugs and potent substances," the statement reads.

The authorities arrested a resident of the Uchtepa district of Tashkent, who was found in possession of synthetic drugs. This led to the discovery of the drug laboratory, which he had set up in a house in the city of Chirchik, Tashkent Region. The premises contained precursors, narcotic substances, and equipment for their production.

Another individual was later arrested, and 435 grams of drugs and 12 pills of potent substances were found in his home.

According to law enforcement, the seized precursors could have been used to produce 10 kg of synthetic drugs, with a total value of US$813,000.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the suspects, who have been arrested.
