Underage Citizens of Uzbekistan Returned from St. Petersburg
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Underage citizens of Uzbekistan who had been left without parental care in St. Petersburg have been successfully returned home.
One of the girls had endured extremely harsh conditions — she was found locked inside a car in her father’s yard. According to reports, he had abused and starved her.
As reported by the “Dunyo” agency, the man had unlawfully taken the girl from her mother, and she had been living with him for three years. Upon receiving reports of threats to her life and health, diplomats and law enforcement officers promptly intervened.
The girl was discovered inside the car after spending a long time without food and in a state of severe distress. Russian police took immediate action and handed her over to child protection authorities.
This girl was among six children repatriated to Uzbekistan. The repatriation operation was organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg in cooperation with the National Agency for Social Protection, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Health.
For ten days, the working group handled the necessary documentation. While preparations were underway, the children were housed in social rehabilitation centers for minors and the “Transit” social shelter in St. Petersburg.
All of them received free certificates for their return and were flown from St. Petersburg to Tashkent.
