Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) led by the head of the Department of Raw Materials Policy Yanchan Chang began on 12 March 2019 in Tashkent.
According to the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, the trip was organized as part of a project to strengthen the republic’s potential to export value-added goods.
In Uzbekistan, the food industry with a focus on food processing has been identified as the target industry of the project. It is also planned to organize trainings and seminars for ministries and departments of the trade, economic and statistical unit and business representatives, conduct a national review of the food industry with international experts, and prepare reports with relevant recommendations.
During their stay in Tashkent, UNCTAD experts are planning to hold talks in the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uzstandart Agency, as well as in other interested ministries and departments.
