The adoption of new laws “On Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men” and “On the Protection of Women against Harassment and Violence”, as well as targeted measures to provide housing, work for women in need, and the provision of targeted loans to ensure employment, deserve special attention.

Uzbekistan has adopted and ratified more than 100 national and international legal acts aimed at protecting the interests of women. The participation of women in public administration is also becoming more active.

It was noted that the laws adopted in Uzbekistan meet UN standards, their implementation will change the attitude towards women, increase their participation in managing the affairs of society and the state, including decision-making processes. Enhancing access to higher education is also key to increasing women’s employment.

Osa Regner noted that the measures taken in Uzbekistan against women are important and deserve respect, especially on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
