UN Cooperation Program Holds First Steering Committee Meeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent hosted the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the UN Cooperation Program on Sustainable Development for 2026–2030. The event brought together Eldor Tulyakov, Executive Director of the “Development Strategy” Center, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, UN system organizations, civil society institutions, and international partner organizations.

The meeting reviewed the program’s key priority areas, including ensuring fair and effective public governance, improving citizens’ welfare and social protection, enhancing healthcare, raising education quality, environmental protection and climate adaptation, and sustainable development of the Aral Sea region.

Eldor Tulyakov emphasized that the UN Cooperation Program is closely aligned with the national “Uzbekistan–2030” strategy. He noted that both frameworks aim to promote socially oriented development, economic stability, environmental goals, and strengthened international cooperation. Tulyakov stressed that the program’s consistent implementation will positively support the national strategy’s successful execution.

The session also summarized the results of the 2021–2025 program, discussed planned measures and priorities for 2026–2030, and reviewed project presentations to be implemented with UN support in the coming years.

The Cooperation Program was developed based on agreements reached on 5 August 2025 in Avaza during a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and UN Secretary-General António Guterres and was officially approved on 24 October 2025.
