Ukrainian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ends Diplomatic Mission
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ukrainian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mykola Doroshenko is concluding his diplomatic mission. His recall, part of a planned rotation of diplomatic personnel, was formalized by a decree signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on 21 July.
Marking the end of his tenure in Tashkent, Ambassador Doroshenko issued a farewell message summarizing his work.
“For me, this was the highest form of trust from the leadership and people of my country, and I did everything possible to live up to that trust. With full dedication and maximum energy, I worked to develop comprehensive cooperation between Ukraine and Uzbekistan,” he wrote.
He emphasized that it was an honor to represent Ukraine during one of the most difficult periods in its history — amid an ongoing war.
“Eleven years ago, my country suffered a treacherous attack […] My mission was to speak about it, to convey the truth to the Uzbek public, to explain what Ukraine is going through today, and why its sons and daughters are sacrificing their lives,” Doroshenko stated.
He concluded by thanking the people of Uzbekistan for their support and their willingness to cooperate with Ukraine.
Also on 21 July, President Zelenskyy signed decrees appointing 16 ambassadors to various foreign countries and international organizations. However, as of now, no official decree has been published regarding a new ambassador to Uzbekistan.
Nevertheless, according to Ukrainian news outlet Glavcom, Ilya Kvas has been appointed as Ukraine’s next ambassador to Uzbekistan. Kvas has previously held positions within Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as ambassador to Finland.
