Two Uzbek Nationals Detained in Türkiye for Fraud
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Two citizens of Uzbekistan wanted for involvement in large-scale fraud have been detained in Türkiye and returned to their homeland.
According to the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, the individuals are a 40-year-old native of the Khorezm region and a 38-year-old resident of Tashkent.
Both men had fled abroad after committing the alleged crimes and were placed on an international wanted list.
Through coordinated efforts between the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan and Türkiye, their whereabouts were identified, the suspects were detained, and subsequently handed over to the Uzbek authorities in accordance with established procedures.
They have been returned to the country to face criminal prosecution.
The diplomatic mission emphasized that cooperation between the law enforcement bodies of the two countries continues to develop actively, enabling the effective identification and detention of individuals hiding abroad.
Operational and investigative measures are ongoing to locate other citizens who committed crimes in Uzbekistan and are currently outside the country.
