Two Shipments of Smuggled Smartphones Seized in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement officers in Tashkent have intercepted several attempts to illegally import and sell mobile phones.

One incident occurred in the Chilanzar district of the capital, where the sale of 102 iPhone smartphones with a combined value of 255 million soums was prevented.

A second case was uncovered near a shopping complex in the Shaykhantakhur district, where an attempt to sell 77 mobile devices worth 207.9 million soums was similarly stopped.

Investigations are currently underway into both incidents. Since the beginning of 2026, enforcement operations of this kind have uncovered 35 cases of illegal mobile device trafficking, with 377 phones seized at a total value of 1.727 billion soums.
