Two People Detained in Andijan Region for Smuggling Nearly 3 kg of Hashish

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Buston District of Andijan Region, the State Security Service in cooperation with law enforcement authorities detained two individuals for the illegal importation of narcotics, the press service of the State Security Service (SSS) reported.

A Lacetti vehicle traveling the route “Andijan — Tashkent” was stopped at a road patrol post as part of the operational-preventive measures “Safe and Healthy Country.”

In the vehicle, authorities discovered and seized 2.994 kg of hashish from the driver, J.R., born in 1984, a resident of Andijan.

During further actions, his accomplice, G.N., born in 1993, was also detained.

It was established that the narcotics had been purchased from drug traffickers in the Kyrgyz Republic for US$23,000 and were intended for sale in Tashkent.

A criminal case has been opened against the detainees under Articles 28 and 246 Part 2 (smuggling) and Articles 25, 273 Part 5 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. They have been placed in pre-trial detention. Investigative actions are ongoing.
