Two Brothers Drown in Ferghana Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 19 March 2026, at approximately 20:05, a tragic incident occurred in the Bulakboshi mahalla of Besharik district, Ferghana region, where two brothers drowned.

According to the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office, six-year-old S.Z., while playing near a water distribution reservoir, dropped a toy into the water and fell in while trying to retrieve it.

His eight-year-old brother jumped in to save him but was unable to withstand the current. Both children drowned and were found deceased at the scene. Their father later recovered their bodies near the canal.

A preliminary forensic examination determined that the cause of death was mechanical asphyxia due to water entering the respiratory tract.

The Besharik district prosecutor’s office is currently conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.
