Turakurgan TPP launches the first gas turbine

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today Turakurgan thermal power plant (TPP) in Namangan region launched the first gas turbine. Now the TPP will operate in a test mode, and will work at full capacity from November.

It was planned to launch the first turbine in September 2019, the second unit will be launched in November 2019. Power units of the new type will produce twice as much electricity per unit of spent fuel compared to traditional thermal power plants.

According to experts, the efficiency of steam and gas installations will be about 59%, which is twice the parameters of traditional steam generating stations; emissions into the atmosphere during the operation of power units are reduced by almost half.

The launch of the Turakurgan TPP will create 900 MW of additional capacity or 7 billion kWh of electricity per year and will provide the main demand for electricity in Ferghana valley – Namangan, Andijan and Ferghana regions.

More than 2,400 domestic and foreign workers are involved in the construction.
