Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Turakurgan district in Namangan region is showing steady growth in export capacity and plays an increasingly important role in the region’s agricultural economy.

In 2026, the district plans to export agricultural products worth a total of US$164.47 million. Of this amount, US$28 million is expected to come from fruit and vegetable exports. Key products include cherries, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, apricots, peaches, and persimmons, which are supplied to Russia, European countries, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, South Korea, and CIS markets.

At present, the harvest season is in full swing in the mahallas of Sohilobod, Uzumzor, Aksi, Fayziobod, and Yakkatom, which specialize in strawberry production. In the past week alone, exports from the district reached US$1.5 million.

Residents of Sohilobod mahalla, who previously focused mainly on grape cultivation, have in recent years actively developed strawberry and peach production. Modern agricultural technologies are being introduced on farmlands, helping to increase yields and improve product quality.

The total area of household plots in the district is around 300 hectares, most of which is occupied by vineyards, while about 40 hectares are allocated for strawberry cultivation. During the season, income per hectare reaches 30–35 million soums.

The expansion of entrepreneurial activity in agriculture is contributing to rising household incomes and lower unemployment. Successful practices are gradually spreading to neighboring communities, forming a sustainable model for the development of the agricultural sector.
