Trump Declares Himself Acting President of Venezuela

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — U.S. President Donald Trump posted an image on the social media platform Truth Social, styled as a biographical summary, in which he assigned himself a new title: Acting President of Venezuela.

The screenshot claims that he was appointed to this position in January 2026, while retaining his role as President of the United States.

The post comes amid reports that control over Venezuela following the detention of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro has been placed under U.S. leadership, headed by Trump himself. Officially, however, Delsi Rodríguez continues to be recognized as the Acting President of Venezuela.

Earlier, on 3 January, the United States announced an operation in Venezuela during which President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were detained, and strikes were carried out against several military facilities.

They were subsequently transported to New York, where the first court hearing on charges of narco-terrorism took place. Nicolás Maduro has denied the allegations.
