Trial of Rashitjon Kadyrov starts in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The trial of the former Attorney General of Uzbekistan Rashitjon Kadyrov, accused of bribe and extortion, began in Tashkent.

The trial began in the Yunusabad district criminal court. Trial will be held in closed mode.

In February 2018, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan reported that Kadyrov was detained, a criminal case was initiated against him on charges of accepting bribes, extortion and abuse of office. The punishment under these articles provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in the framework of the criminal case, 24 defendants were charged against, including his son Alisher Kadyrov, who was put on the international wanted list.
