Training course “Medical Ecology” presented in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A round table devoted to presentation and discussion of the training course “Medical Ecology” was held at the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors (TIATD) under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan on 3 November 2017.

The event was organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) under the “Environment and Health” program.

A training course of this kind was developed for the first time in Uzbekistan with participation of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the State Committee of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection, TIATD and the Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA).

Approbation of the training course will be held on the basis of TIATD with further introduction of the specialists of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection, TMA and other interested agencies in the training and retraining.

The event was held in the format of a working meeting. Among the participants there were representatives of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental of Uzbekistan, CAREC, TIATD, the Center for Retraining and Advanced Training of Personnel in the Sphere of Environmental Protection, TMA and other specialized organizations.

“The medical ecology is a complex scientific discipline, which considers all aspects of the environment and is oriented towards the health of the population,” the chief radiologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the national technical coordinator for development of educational program “Medical Ecology” Damir Zaradinov said.

He said that intensive change of the environment under the influence of anthropogenic activity and negative tendencies in changing the quality of the environment cause anxiety and concern not only among specialists in the field of ecology, occupational medicine, hygienists and other specialists, but also among the public.

Developed curriculum on medical ecology is designed to facilitate learning process in the interests of preserving and strengthening the health of the population, to form a system of scientific and practical knowledge.

After the successful introduction of the training course in Uzbekistan, it is planned to extend experience, knowledge and methodology to other countries in Central Asia.
