Trade and Economic Potential of Uzbekistan presented in Geneva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 4-5 July 2019 a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov took part in thematic events of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) on discussing trade facilitation in the Central Asian region and attracting technical assistance to the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
According to the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations, over 50 representatives from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Central Asia states, as well as the ECE, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN development programs (UNDP) and the environment EP), the WTO, the World Customs Organization, the World Bank, the International UNCTAD / WTO Trade Center (ITC) attended the high-level meeting on trade issues of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) and the Forum on WTO Accession.
In his speech, Badriddin Abidov presented to the participants of the events detailed information on the country’s large-scale and phased reforms on the liberalization of foreign economic activity, the development of regional trade and the formation of efficient transport and logistics corridors, as well as the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
