Tourism Concept to Be Developed for the City of Kokand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Khayrullo Bozorov, Hokim of the Fergana Region, is on a working visit to Kokand, one of Uzbekistan’s oldest and culturally rich cities, home to numerous historical monuments and sacred sites.

During the visit, attention was focused on creating tourist routes, restoring cultural heritage sites, and establishing modern facilities for visitors.

The Hokim outlined priority areas for the development of the tourism sector. Historical sites within the “Isfara Guzar” and “Qaymoqli Guzar” districts were inspected, including the Zinbardor Jome Mosque, the Hamza Hakimzade House Museum, and residential buildings from the Kokand Khanate period.

The condition of the Miyon Hazrat Madrasa, the ancient Mukimi Madrasa, and the museum were also reviewed.

Bozorov held discussions with local residents regarding the prospects for developing these historical sites. Tasks were set to transform neighborhoods into tourist streets, restore buildings and structures, establish craft centers, and enhance service quality for tourists.

Special attention was given to state-protected buildings and the need to develop a clear concept and practical plan for integrating them into tourist routes with the involvement of Kokand history specialists.

Guidance was also provided on improving the area around “Ko‘konsay,” optimizing its use, enhancing the quality of tourist services, and attracting investors to related projects.

Following the visit, officials were tasked with developing specific measures across all areas of the city’s socio-economic development and regularly monitoring their implementation.
