Total Electricity Output in Uzbekistan Rises, While Large Enterprises Cut Generation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–June 2025, Uzbekistan generated 43.54 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 6.6% compared to the same period in the previous year.
However, a significant shift occurred in the sources of electricity production. Large enterprises saw a sharp decline in output — from 36.9 billion to 31.25 billion kWh, representing a 15.32% decrease. In contrast, small businesses substantially increased their contribution.
In the first half of the year, small enterprises generated 12.29 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity — more than three times the amount produced in the same period of 2024.
At the same time, thermal energy production by large enterprises also declined. During the six-month period, they produced 11.34 million gigacalories of thermal energy, which is 10.7% lower compared to January–June 2024.
