TMK Develops Tungsten Processing Complex in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbek Technological Metals Combine (TMK) is advancing a comprehensive industrial model for tungsten, encompassing the full production cycle from extraction to finished products.

The project is aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan’s position as a stable and technologically advanced partner in the global critical minerals market.

A key component of the upstream segment is the Sarikul tungsten deposit, located in the Nurabad district of the Samarkand region.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Geology and Mining Industry of Uzbekistan. Engineering and technological solutions are being developed by Australian firms AMC Consulting Pty Ltd. and NewPro Consulting and Engineering Services Pty Ltd., both of which have extensive international experience.

Extraction will be carried out using both open-pit and underground methods, providing technological flexibility, safety, and economic efficiency.

An important aspect of the project is the integration of ESG initiatives (Environmental, Social, Governance), including environmental safety, sustainable resource management, and social support for local communities.

The under-construction processing complex is designed to process up to 1 million tons of ore annually and will produce 65% tungsten concentrate that meets international quality standards.

The projected output of finished products is 4,000 tons per year, with an estimated mine lifespan of up to 20 years.

The project is expected to create more than 400 jobs and modernize local infrastructure, contributing to the region’s sustainable socio-economic development.

According to TMK, the Sarikul project will not only enable efficient development of mineral resources but also establish a new industrial ecosystem focused on human capital, technological modernization, and sustainable development. This will strengthen Uzbekistan’s standing in the global critical minerals market and the metallurgical industry.
