Three Killed in Head-On Collision Between Matiz and Truck in Jizzakh Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Three people died in a serious road accident in Jizzakh region on 23 November, authorities reported.

The crash occurred when a Matiz passenger car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a ZIL-130 truck. The incident happened at around 8:10 a.m. on the 34th kilometer of the D-050 Jizzakh–Gallyaaral highway.

According to the regional Traffic Safety Department, the Matiz driver entered the opposite lane while attempting to overtake another vehicle.

All three victims — the 27-year-old driver and two passengers of the Matiz — died at the scene.

An investigation has been launched under Part 3, Article 266 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, covering violations of traffic safety rules resulting in fatalities. Investigative actions are ongoing.
