Three Illegal Drug Labs Shut Down in Andijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Andijan have dismantled three clandestine laboratories producing and storing counterfeit medicines during a joint operation involving the State Security Service, Border Troops, and Customs Service. The illegal activity posed a serious threat to public health.

Investigations revealed that three residents of Andijan city and Asaka district were manufacturing uncertified and falsified drugs in their own homes. Inspections showed that the laboratories were specifically equipped to produce medicines of questionable quality.

Over 60,000 units of drugs across 122 different names, with a total estimated value of 1.1 billion soums, were confiscated as evidence.

Preliminary data indicates that some of the raw and processed products originated from the Kyrgyz Republic.

Experts warn that such counterfeit medicines can pose serious health risks. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
