Three Central Asian Countries Ratify Tripoint Border Agreement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan have signed a Protocol exchanging ratification instruments for the Agreement on the tripoint of the three countries’ state borders.
The signing ceremony took place in Tashkent with the participation of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev.
Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov stated that today marks a truly significant milestone in the history of good-neighborly relations in Central Asia. According to the minister, this decision is the result of a long and constructive dialogue based on mutual trust and the shared commitment of the governments to strengthening peace and stability in the region.
He noted that the completion of the ratification process demonstrates the ability of Central Asian countries to resolve complex issues jointly and through diplomatic means, guided by the principles of respect, good-neighborliness and strategic foresight.
Saidov emphasized that this step represents an important contribution to further developing regional solidarity and reinforcing an atmosphere of trust across the entire Central Asian space.
The tripoint border agreement was originally signed on 31 March 2025 in Khujand during a meeting of the leaders of the three countries. The document establishes the exact location of the tripoint and the alignment of the borders in the respective area.
The agreement is strategically important for strengthening regional integration. Its ratification will promote good-neighborly relations, enhance trust and strategic partnership among the three countries, and raise the international standing of Central Asia.
Additionally, the document provides a solid legal framework for increasing intergovernmental contacts, expanding economic cooperation, developing cross-border trade, implementing joint infrastructure projects, and creating new jobs.
